This is a collection of some of the stuff I've done with my newsprint plug-in. I'm not really much of an artist, so don't be put off because what you see here is rubbish! Ideally, I'd replace this stuff with proper designs done be people with more skill that me (ie, pretty much anyone!) If you have an image you'd like to contribute, please mail me at <Austin_Donnelly@yahoo.co.uk>. Thanks!

Yeah, so the logo is tasteless. So shoot me!

I made this originally to try and get a font that looked "speedy", like the 'G' above. I slapped down a letter G, picked up the selection and feathered it a bit, then added a layer mask. Filled the layer mask with light grey (fading out to black because of the feathering). Then I ran the newsprint filter over the layer mask, using the line spot function at 0° and a large cell size. This is how the pointed bits on the end of each line were made.

The 'i' was just a straigtforward newsprint filter on the layer mask, this time without feathering but now using the round spot function.

The 'm' and 'p' were done together, this time putting a gradient in the layer mask. None of these letters were done by newsprinting the actual image directly - all were done as operations on the layer mask.

This one was one of my early experiments with the colour separation stuff. It's a photo distributed with xloadimage as an example JPEG. It's main purpose is to demonstrate how the newsprinted version of an image can be blended in with the original using layer masks.

This was originally a greyscale photo of Clare. The highlights are filled in solid orange, while the shadows are left halftoned.

Ok, I don't know what this is either, but it wouldn't look out of place on the front of a new age music album. It's basically a random shape drawn onto a layer mask, shape-burst gradient filled, then bump-mapped. Click on the picture for a step-by-step tutorial on how it was made.
